During the Central Inspection Antonia Derksen, Germany-based breeder of Friesian horses, was honoured as the new Young Breeder of the Year. ‘It´s amazing what my two broodmares have achieved in so short a time’, was Antonia´s reaction, the first foreign person to be presented with this prize. Antonia breeds Friesian horses at her yard in Feldatal, Central Germany, and she and her horses can frequently be seen on Dutch breeding days.
Reserve Youngster Champion Feike van de Zwarte Marie
At the Central Inspection Antonia reaped her first successes on Friday. Feike van de Zwarte Marie (Meinte 490) became Reserve Champion 2-year-olds and received the Reserve Title in the Youngster Championship. At the end of August Feike won the Day Championship on the Ambt Delden breeding day, an extraordinary achievement for a 2-year-old. There too, Antonia´s first home-bred foal Amber van de Zwarte Marie (Onne 376 x Stendert 447) scooped up the Reserve Title 3-year-olds. Amber was given a Star first premium and obtained the Preliminary Crown predicate in Drachten and managed to finish in 4th place in the Champion inspection 3-year-olds.
Successor of Stan Derksen
Antonia is the successor of Stan Derksen –no relation- who won the title of Young Breeder of the Year 2018. Antonia wins a stud service after her own choice, sponsored by the KFPS.
