Naya du Graffard (Jouwe 85 x Thorben 466) wins in Le Mans

At the inspections in France, the 2-year-old Naya du Graffard (Jouwe 485 x Thorben 466) came out on top in Le Mans. ‘Picture-perfect, the epitome of breeding type’, Manuel Gasseling comments, who had travelled to France in the company of Frans Smits to inspect the horses. At the inspection in St. Etienne it was the 9-year-old Rixt Leanna Z. Crown AA (Reinder 452 x Doaitsen 420) who became the winner. As a 3-year-old in 2016 she also was the Ta it Bihâld Breeding Day Champion.

Frisons d’Ambène successful in St. Etienne

On the 3rd of September the Earl les Frisons d’Ambène breeding stud reaped success with Sabrina Yago in St. Etienne du Tulmont. In the colt foal category Taho D’Ambène (Foeke 520 x Alwin 469) was rewarded with an orange rosette. With an active, powerful walk, roomy and uphill trot and nicely rising in the front he earned himself a first premium. There was another first premium for filly foal Thïa Isaana D’Ambène (Eise 489 x Alwin 469) from the same yard. She would benefit from a slightly more uphill build but she combined an active walk with lots of suppleness in trot.

3-year-old Liefke Star and Reserve Champion

Another successful Eise 489 daughter appeared in the ring of the 3-year-olds. Liefke Wolkje D’ Ambène Star (Eise 489 x Tsjalke 397) caught the eye with her fine breeding type and correct legwork. For a first premium she needs to impress a bit more in movement, but Liefke did become the Reserve Champion in the category older mares. But truly enough, the Champion Title was for first-premium Star mare Rixt Leanna Z. Crown AA (Reinder 452 x Doaitsen 420), bred by Age van der Zee and in ownership of Earl les Frisons d’Ambène. ‘We could certainly dish out high marks to her for breeding type and legwork’, says Manuel Gasseling. For the Model predicate she needs to impress more in the walk.’

Youngster Champion and Breeding Day Champion Naya

In Le Mans on September the 4th, Breeding Day- and Youngster Champion Naya made a really good impression with her breeding type and correct conformation. Elise Boulard’s 2-year-old walked with good scope and well through the body, is Manuel’s commentary. ‘In trot too she shows satisfactory scope and power, but here she should step further under the body.’ The Reserve Championship was for the 4-year-old Haslane d’Aure Star (Epke 474 x Tymon 456) owned by Alexendra Tybus. Haslane stood out with a supple, roomy trot combined with good bend in the hind leg. This mare slightly lacks breeding type but presents correct legwork.’

In the category for 4- to 6-year-old Star mares there was also a first premium for Gaia el Du Moulin Star (Gerben 479 x Pier 448) thanks to her convincing conformation and breeding type. She has an expressive head and great breeding type. Her walk is roomy and active, she has an active trot in which she needs to demonstrate more balance and power. In the 3-year-olds Keysia Star (Alwin 469 x Hessel 480) showed a correct walk as well as trot and was awarded a Star with a second premium. ‘A good-looking and complete mare.’

Foal Champions

In the foal category there were two orange rosettes. With a strong moment of suspension and with an uphill frame colt foal Tylias el du Moulin (Elias 494 x Pier 448) trotted towards a first premium. The well-developed filly foal Tzigane Deham (Matthys 504 x Onne 376) showed a fine uphill trot with good bend in the hind leg.
