Eise 489 and Jurre 495 grab Tandem Title

The special evening competition in Norg became the stage for the Tandem Championship Friesian Showdriving Horses. Six combinations had qualified but in the end only five actually competed. From the moment they made their entry until the moment they left the arena, Maurits 437 sons Eise 489 and Jurre 495 with Jelmer Chardon in the sjees were the most eye-catching of them all. The combination successfully managed to keep the tempo, but these two stallions most of all stood out because of their roomy paces and strong fronts. Eise 489 loves the audience and received a huge applause from the spectators that had turned out in large numbers. ‘He moved like a pop star’ Jelmer commented afterwards. The Jury members were also of one mind: ‘This combination truly and prominently stood out. They showed off really well and kept up fine fronts.’ Jelle van der Kooi took the Reserve Title with Tjitte VDK (Andries 415) and Vincent VDK (Jasper 366). They had the teeniest of start-up problems and the leading horse Vincent made a less strong impression than the ultimate champions, according to the Jury. Augustinus Hoekstra came 3rd with GPD Aron (Jouwe 485) and GPD Ward (Thorben 466).

Close together

Event Chairman Reinder Auwema was right in the centre of the arena during the last showdriving class of the day, enjoying the Friesian two-in-hands: ‘What a wonderful class this is! I reckon it’s the finest of the entire event’. He watched Jelmer Chardon clock another victory with yet again Eise 489 and Jurre 495 in front of the sjees. The pair beautifully took their cue from each other and were very strong over the legs and in head/neck posture. The competitors were closer at their heels than in the tandem class. GPD Aron and GPD Ward also moved with very roomy and mostly synchronized strides and grabbed 2nd prize.

Single classes

Augustinus Hoekstra was victorious in the KFPS Novice Competition with GPD Aron and went for a repeat performance in the Limit Class. Jelle van der Kooi claimed the title in the Open Class. Also in this Open Class were Rommert 498 and Jehannes 484 who both now have accumulated sufficient winning points and can call themselves Honorary Class horses from now on. In the Ladies’ Class the top were quite evenly matched but in the end it was Yfke SW (Tjaarda 483) with Susan Wind who grew more and more into her own with every round and made a beeline for a fine victory in this class!
