With five first premiums and two Preliminary Crown mares the quality at the inspection in Denmark on Saturday the 31st of July was good. Another Preliminary Crown mare became Reserve Champion: the 4-year-old Elena af Abildgaard (Nane 492 x Tsjalke 397).

Five first premiums

Finally inspections again, the Danish breeders sounded so relieved on Saturday the 31st of July. They couldn’t show their horses to the Jury in 2020, except for a few that were able to join the inspection at Henswoude Stables. The yield on this rainy day in July 2021 was five mares with a first premium.

Gerbrecht with a 9 for trot

In the Queen’s class for 3-year-olds four mares became Star, one of them rising to Star with a first premium: the modern-lined Gerbrecht van de Marne Star (Jehannes 484 x Norbert 444), bred by Douwe van Foeken and owned by Hessel Jan Oosterhof. Gerbrecht showed a powerful walk and earned herself a 9 for her fine uphill trot in which she moves with great ground coverage.
Helle and Flemming Fynbo went home with two new Star mares, both stem from Anton Schut’s van de Olde Mette Moate stud farm and who himself had travelled to Denmark to experience it live.
Gin af Fynbo Star (Nane 492 x Norbert 444) especially convinced with a strong use of the hind leg in an uphill trot. Hanna v.d. Olde Mette Moate (Nane 492 x Sape 381) – half-sister to Gerben 479 – showed off her long frame with long neck and ditto croup, the walk needs a bit more scope but her trot was convincing and in a fine uphill outline. The third second-premium Star was for Havanna Ellemose (Bene 476 x Onne 376) in ownership of Heidi and Jørgen Jørgensen. In the category 4-year-old Studbook mares there was a first premium for the Fynbo Family’s Elena af Abildgaard (Nane 492 x Tsjalke 397).

Fine older mares

The collection of fine older mares generated applause. Sjoeke van Ravenswoud Crown Sport AA (Wimer 461 x Anton 434) owned by Fynbo breeders impressed with her movement and with her supple trot and great impulsion also demonstrated her sport qualities in the in-hand presentation. She was given a first premium but for the Model predicate she falls slightly short on the finishing touches in exterior.
Another two first premiums were for two mares – again owned by Hessel Jan Oosterhof. The 17-year-old dam Odilia fan ‘e Suurdreed Model Pref AA (Wierd 409 x Oltman 317) and her daughter 11-year-old Hadewich Hyllested Østergaard (Bente 412 x Wierd 409) represented the epitome of durability and vitality and easily obtained their orange rosettes. For the Champion Title however, they had to bow to the future generation, the young mares Gerbrecht and Elena.
