Champion Eline van de Wolwarren Star (Walt 487) and Reserve Champion Imke van de Beestmanweg Star (Menne 496) with owners, runners and judges
On Friday the 25th of March at the inspection in Alce Blanco in Mexico, three mares were accepted in the Studbook with a Star second premium. Proclaimed Champion was Eline van de Wolwarren Star, a Walt 487 daughter out of Crown Jewel Frederike J. v.d. Wolwarren Model Preferent Performance AAA (Leffert 306). This 5-year-old mare is owned by Angel Leon from Jalisco.

Expressive, modern Eline
The inspection took place at Rancho El Serrotito in Alcé Blanco. ‘A wonderful location’, said Jan Hellinx, who inspected the horses together with Willem Sonnema. They chose the expressive and modern-lined Eline as their Champion. ‘She is longlined, high-legged, with uphill conformation and dry legwork, although the feet are slightly lacking in size’, is how Jan described the mare. ‘The walk was roomy and rhythmic, in trot she demonstrated posture and scope, but she needs to develop more suppleness with more capacity for transitions.’
Stable mates Imke and Helena Star
Next to Eline we find the 4-year-old Reserve Champion Imke van de Beestmanweg Star (Menne 496 x Fetse 349), owned by Rancho El Serrotito, who also received a Star second premium. She is a mare with good breeding type. ‘She would benefit from a little more class and a bigger frame, but she has hardy legwork, an active and rhythmic walk and a trot with lots of scope in which she showed that transitions come easy to her’, as the Jury put it.
The third Star second premium was for Imke’s stable mate: Helena van Hergo Star (Haike 482 x Beart 411). The 4-year-old Helena too had good breeding type, albeit with a slightly longish face’, Jan explained. ‘She has a generous forehand, a slightly downhill build and is a bit small-angled in the hind leg. Her walk stood out with its great rhythm and suppleness. In trot too she moved loosely through her body but she still needs to learn to rise more in the forehand.’
The Youngster Champions: Opmerkelijk Mau and Paradijzen Mau, both daughters of Jan fan it Hiem Star (Tsjalle 454)
Youngster Champion Jan fan it Hiem
In the youngster category there were two yearlings and one 2-year-old who went home with a second premium. The 2-year-old Opmerkelijk Mau (Jan fan it Hiem Star x Stendert 447) was announced Youngster Champion. Her two half sisters by the same sire also received a second premium: Paradijzen Mau (damsire Durk G.B.) and Regeren Mau (damsire Onne 376). Stallion Jan van it Hiem Star (Tsjalle 454 x Beart 411) – a full brother to Sport Elite mare Oukje fan it Hiem Star AA – already had a Star but was presented under saddle and earned 68 points for his IBOP. ‘Correct movement but in walk he needs to develop more rhythm and looseness through the body.’
