On Thursday the 12th of January Jaring fan Galinga State Star AA (Ulbrân 502) was crowned Champion in the final of the Friesian Talent Cup for stallions and geldings in Leeuwarden. The stallion, owned by Ted Kop Jansen and ridden by Hennie Roffel, captured the title thanks to his huge capacity for transitions and the fine harmony between horse and rider, which was awarded with 82.5 points.
Two times Ulbrân 502
Finishing in second place was Koop fan de Mersken AAA (Ulbrân 502) with Marieke Okkema, who bred and still owns the stallion in partnership with Age Okkema. Koop received compliments for being so light-footed and his constant contact on the bit. This 4-year-old stallion moved with a lot of self-posture which resulted in a score of 78.5. Third place was for Jasper Star (Alwin 469) and rider Marijke Boelen, a combination that demonstrated a remarkably strong canter with very good-quality strides. Jasper, owned by R.J. Vos, also received praise for his self-carriage and that yielded a score of 76.5 points.

Lots of quality
The attending Jury, existing of Bart Bax, Kim Jacobi and Monique Peutz, were also very enthusiastic about the participating horses in the stallion and gelding category. ‘We saw so much quality today. All eight horses are each and everyone super talented and have a fine future ahead of them in the sport’, Monique commented. ‘Occasionally we noticed a bit of tension at the start of the presentation, but all riders skilfully managed to deal with that.’
