Last December it seemed highly unlikely for Peter Spahn and his horses: but on Thursday the 23rd of February the training of Jeroen Poll (Anders 451) was back in full swing for the next World Cup competitions in Gothenburg in Sweden. On Friday the 24th the combination appears at the start.

Unfortunate fall

On Tuesday December 20th the rider from Niebert tumbled from a horse and contracted a bone fracture in his leg. Surgery was inevitable and that ruled out his potential participation in the World Cup competitions of December or January. Yet, Peter was determined to recover in time so that hopefully he would succeed in securing a place in the World Cup Final in the United States in April 2023. ‘Everyone thinks I’m off my rocker but I’m going to try anyway’, he insisted. ‘I have a top team that supervise me and my recuperation. Every single day I have a full programme with physio, kinetech, home trainer, fitness with elastic bands and core stability training.

Start on Friday

And he has pulled it off! On Friday the 24th of February at 14:09 hrs Peter Spahn and Jeroen Poll appear at the start of the FEI World Cup competition Grand Prix dressage in Gothenburg. On Thursday the 23rd of February they had a training session in the imposing arena and luckily we can share in the fun with the video below.
