It’s the time of year to take stock of last season’s IBOP Tests. The star with the highest score of this season is a 5-year-old Crown mare: Cecilia von Greifenstolz (Bartele 472) who rode to an AAA score of 90 points with a very young Lieke Lueks in the saddle.

High-spirited

Cecilia was sent to Albert Lueks in Diever to receive her training for the inspection and to be broken to the saddle. From the very first moment daughter Lieke had a click with the high-spirited Cecilia: ‘She was barely three weeks under saddle when Lieke entered her for the Friesian Talent Cup. Lieke instantly managed to get the best out of Cecilia.’ The combination made it into the final of the FTC where they ended in 5th place.

Quality of basic gaits

In 2019 this Bartele 472 daughter was accepted in the Studbook with a first premium and was declared Preliminary Crown in Seelitz, Germany. That same day she also won the Day Champion Title. In April 2021 Cecilia gave birth to a filly foal by Nane 492 and after a little while the 14-year-old Lieke started her in training again. Last September Lieke and Cecilia completed an IBOP Test at the inspection in Schluchtern for which they received 90 points and which made Cecilia Permanent Crown. Jury member Sabien Zwaga commented: ‘‘This mare is such a powerhouse. She has a very nice click with Lieke who could therefore present her at her very best. She displayed lots of quality in the basic gaits.’

Continuing in the sport

Ralf Reinhardt bred Cecilia out of Zarina van de Stoven Crown (Beart 411) whose dam Noeska fan ’t Reidfjild Star Preferent Performance (Dirk 298) is a half sister to Atse 342 out of Helmie Star Preferent (Lammert 260) from pedigree 28. ‘The owner has given Lieke a free rein to compete Cecilia in the sport,’ says Albert Lueks. ‘With an eye on a potential future Model predicate she has now given a foal but she is not in foal at the moment.’ There is a chance that Ralf might want to flush an embryo from her this spring but basically, Cecilia is now going to start her career in the sport. Lieke starts her in the M1 and the intention is to move up to Z level early next year with the intention to obtain the Sport predicate. After that we’ll see if she has the potential for more. Lieke, who trains with Vai Bruntink and Sjaak Laarakkers, wants to achieve as much as possible with Cecilia in the sport.’
